How to get rid of the bad smell from the car?

The vast majority of drivers are well aware of the importance of regular car washing. Very often, however, it turns out that we do not attach so much importance to the state of the car interior. Unfortunately, this very often contributes to the fact that it requires much more care than the outside of the car.

Regularly clean the interior of your car

It is difficult to identify only one source of the unpleasant odour that floats in the car. These are both cigarettes and transported animals, and often just the mess that reigns in it and makes the decay bacteria have excellent conditions for growth. Fortunately, although this is a serious problem, it does not mean that we will not be able to deal with it at all.

Unpleasant odour problems often have really trivial sources, it may be the coat of our beloved dog, the mud applied by travellers and the leftovers of food. If we add to this the humidity that persists while driving, it will not take much time and we will have an environment conducive to the development of mould. Our goal should therefore be to do everything not to lead to such a state, and it can help us in this complex cleaning. It doesn't have to be a difficult task, and the first step should be to remove everything that could interfere with us.

Once this stage is over, we can get on with vacuuming, making sure that we get to places where access is limited. If the odour is emitted by upholstery or rugs, they will also be washed. In addition to ordinary cleaning products, it is also advisable to get one that is designed to combat mould. Such measures are usually highly corrosive, so it is advisable to wear protective gloves when using them. Upholstery should not only be vacuumed, but also washed. Special chemicals should be used for this purpose. All plastic parts, including handles and steering wheel, should be thoroughly cleaned with a soft sponge. Water alone is not enough, so get a good supply of chemicals for this purpose.

Cleaning of car air conditioning

Unfortunately, it may also turn out that the interior of our car is sterilely clean, and yet it is difficult for us to resist the impression that the smell in it is not pleasant. In such a case, air-conditioning, or more precisely our negligence related to it, is most often to blame. When the cables are cool and humid, they become a place, as if created for the development of fungi and other dangerous microorganisms that have an adverse effect on our health. This is why air conditioning should be fungus-free at least once a year. Today, special preparations are available for this task, but a much better option seems to be to take advantage of the offer of one of the specialist services.

Get rid of the smell of nicotine

Another serious problem can be unpleasant odour as a consequence of the tendency to smoke in the car. Nicotine smoke not only leads to the formation of greasy deposits and dirty upholstery, but also causes an unpleasant smell. Special anti-smoking air fresheners are most often used to eliminate it, but one cannot overlook the fact that they usually do not eliminate it as a whole, but only make it look more dull. If you want to use them, remember to carefully analyze the instructions for their use, otherwise they may pose a threat to the upholstery - especially suede and leather upholstery.
