Ranking of urban cars 2017

When considering buying a new city car, we take into account a number of guidelines that allow us to make the most appropriate choice. The basis is the quality and reliability of the vehicle at a reasonable price. Fuel consumption and size are also important indicators when looking for the right option for us, so that you can park and move around easily on congested streets.

The decision to buy a particular model is also influenced by the size of the owner's family or type of economic activity. However, we will focus on small and practical rush hour vehicles, i.e. A-segment vehicles.

The following is a ranking of city cars 2017. The data indicate that the most popular cars, translating into sales results, were ingeniously designed and richly equipped. This compilation is based on the results of the data provided by CEPiK for the three A-segment cars that have exceeded one thousand registrations.

Toyota Aygo

Toyota Aygo ranks first in the number of copies sold. The data indicate that more than 3200 new registrations of this type of vehicles were carried out last year. Eight colour versions, including internal details, make it possible to order a vehicle according to its own aesthetic concept.

The model has a 69 hp engine and consumes about 4 l/100km. It is available with a five-speed manual or automatic transmission. In addition to the standard supply of cars of this class, the Toyota Aygo is equipped with a multimedia system - reversing camera, Bluetooth and a 7-inch monitor. The leather steering wheel features buttons for controlling the Toyota Aygo. The price of a new vehicle varies depending on the equipment. The most advanced version costs about 49 000 PLN.

Citigo Skoda

Last year's second most popular model was Skoda Citigo. The data made available on the CEPiK website show more than 2800 registrations of vehicles of this brand. Citigo Skoda equipment is very practical, despite its subdued design and stylistic simplicity. Interesting is the sports version package, which includes a sports suspension, tinted rear windows and 15-inch aluminium wheels. There are two variants of the drive unit with a power output of 60 hp or 75 hp. In the stronger version there is a possibility to choose a vehicle with an automatic transmission. The price of Citigo Skoda in its highest category is approximately 44,500 thousand PLN.

Volkswagen Up!

The third place, taking into account the number of registrations of new vehicles, was taken by Volkswagen Up! The price of this car in the most luxurious version is about 64 000 PLN. This vehicle was purchased in 2017 by more than 1900 people.

The technical data of Volkswagen Up! change depending on the vehicle version. In the GTI 5D version, the vehicle is equipped with a 115 hp motor unit and a manual 6-speed gearbox. The car burns about 6l/100km while driving in the city. The car reaches a speed of 100 km/h in 8.8 mph and the maximum speed limit is 196 km.

Given the increasingly advanced construction and on-board equipment of urban vehicles, it can be seen that their standard has been caught up with higher class cars. These are no longer simple, clumsy constructions and actually the only element distinguishing them from cars in the B, C or even D segment is their small size.
