Checking the car after the winter

It is a good idea to take some time to check the technical condition of your car after the winter and prepare it for the new season. It is important to check the wipers, lights, tyres, but also the chassis.

There are many things you can do yourself. In the case of wiper blades it is necessary to check if they collect water well and if the blades do not need to be replaced. This guarantees comfort while driving. It is also necessary to check the condition of operating fluids. Winter fluid changes to summer fluid. The body must be washed and waxed so that the paint can be protected. It is also worth to remove rust from handles, bumpers and other elements of this type to make them shine nicely.

Safety in particular

In spring, it is usually necessary to change tires as well. This is done when the average temperature is more than 7 degrees Celsius. This is because winter tires will stop working at high temperatures and the braking distance will be longer. Brake fluid shall be checked on the chassis. It is necessary to check the rubber parts, i.e. gaskets, cables and belts. In case of any cracks, they must be replaced immediately. It is also useful to check the suspension and steering.

Preparation for summer

Once a year it becomes necessary to replace the cabin filter and check the operation of the air conditioning - especially important when spring begins. By cleaning the air conditioning, you can remove moulds, bacteria, fungi and mites, which have certainly accumulated in air conditioning in large quantities. The interior of the car must also be taken into account. It is worth checking what is the condition of rugs and upholstery, because they were probably slightly damaged by salt and mud from winter time. These rugs, which are made of rubber, can be washed thoroughly, but those made of velour should be washed and dried thoroughly.

It is also a good idea to take care of hubcaps and rims - especially attention-grabbing ones - to clean them well so that they do not lose their nice appearance. A special wheel cleaner is suitable for them. When using it, care must be taken not to matt the surface. Such an agent can be obtained in the form of a spray or paste. They are different for metal rims and different for aluminium rims.

In addition, there are rags, sponges, handkerchiefs and so on.
