In cold weather, the most convenient way to wash your car will be to use an automatic car wash. It's poor washing, but especially in winter, better than none at all. This way you can wash away most of the dirt and salt, and the car body will dry as well as possible. In the manual of some new cars we will find a ban on washing in automatic car washes.

Unfortunately, many car washes will freeze in Poland at higher temperatures. We are left with a professional hand wash or pressure washer, which is available at petrol stations.

Car care and washing

Wash at low temperature with warm or hot water. Winter water washing does not make sense, because we will immediately freeze on the car body will have problems with entering the car. Before washing, it is necessary to protect the locks of the car before a large amount of water gets into it. At least as far as possible. If water gets in, the locks can be blocked.

The next step will be to use the defroster in the spray, which will make washing out the grease from the locks difficult, there will be a problem with keeping the locks in good condition, corrosion may occur. If the locks freeze, there may also be a problem with locking the door.

Washing the car on the outside

Before we use a paid washing machine at a petrol station, we should spray the wheels with a rim cleaner, the colder the harder it will be for us to remove dirt and it is possible that such an additional detergent will be helpful. We secure the locks by sealing them with tape.

Wash the body with hot water and a cleaning agent, taking into account the wheel arches and the chassis. We rinse the car starting from the roof and cheat it with leather. Part of the water and there can freeze us. Starting the car you will need to turn on the heating of the rear window and mirrors, as well as the interior heating, if possible we enter the underground garage. Also clean the wiper blades and remove the ice from them.

You should also remember about seals, which must be protected with silicone in spray or stick, we do not use a greasy agent such as WD-40 for rubber. It is worth to wipe off the inner edges of the door and remove any remaining water and ice from the car body. It's a good idea to leave the car in a place where it can easily dry out.

In your own garage, you routinely leave the window pane open. During a visit to the car wash in winter or autumn you will also be able to think about washing the chassis. The dirt that will accumulate there can cause corrosion, so be careful. It will be worth taking care of your car, because in this way we can guarantee its technical condition at the appropriate level.
