Car inspection - when to do it?

The car should always be technically efficient, because not only driving comfort, but above all its safety depends on it. In order to avoid surprises while driving, the vehicle should be checked regularly for the possibility of various problems.

Drivers often don't worry about additional checks in garages, because the car drives normally, doesn't cause any additional problems, and a visit to the garage is time and money. With cars, however, it is similar to us, i.e. a quickly diagnosed and eliminated defect can be as early diagnosed health problem - much less problematic. It is worthwhile at least twice a year, before and immediately after winter, to go to the mechanic and check if everything is fine. This is related to preparing the car for new conditions, changing tyres, refilling fluids and similar issues, simple but important.

What should be checked?

There are, of course, a whole lot of elements in the car, which can cause us various surprises. Most often unpleasant. The most important thing is to check:

I. Tyres

It is important to ensure that the tyres have a sufficiently high tread and are of a suitable type. Adjust your tyres to the outside temperature, as tyres that are too hard for cold conditions will be dangerous, and soft tyres that are very hot will get damaged very quickly. Summer and winter tyres use rubber compounds with significantly different properties, which should not be underestimated as the tyre will only perform under certain conditions. The tread pattern is also different. The requirement for its depth is, in principle, a matter of course.

II. Lights

There is an obligation to drive on dipped-beam headlights, so they must be operational all year round, even if you don't drive at night. By the way, you should also check the position of the lights so that their incorrect position does not cause dazzling to other road users.

III. Wipers

The wiper must effectively remove water and dirt from the windscreen. Especially after the winter period, there is a risk of high wear of the wiper blade, so that the effectiveness of the wiper blades drops sharply. In summer they are destroyed by UV radiation.

IV. Engine oil

Engine oil ensures that engine components can operate without excessive friction. Friction can reduce engine life and lead to engine seizure. The oil level should be checked regularly as low oil consumption is normal, but it can also be higher as a result of greater or lesser engine failures. The oil should be changed regularly every year or after travelling the distance indicated by the oil or car manufacturer.

Brake fluid in the hydraulic brake system is absolutely essential for the proper functioning of the brakes.
